Day 1: The Middleton Place Inn
My mom, me and Remmie arrived in South Carolina at around 4pm on Tuesday and headed immediately to the car rental place so we could get on the road ASAP to the Middleton Place Inn. On our way there, we passed a Chick-fil-a and couldn’t pass it up! We stopped in and got an order of fries and continued on our way.
As we drove into winding drive of Middleton Place, we were breath taken by the gorgeous scenery– the Spanish Moss was our favorite part! To the left and right were acres of land for the dozens of horses living in the stables and as we drove in further, the beautiful Ashley River became visible in the distance. Our room overlooked the river making for a gorgeous view every morning.
Day 2: Exploring Downtown Charleston
The second day we decided to explore Downtown Charleston and of course, Remmie had to tag along! For lunch, we ate at Angel Oak Restaurant, which I HIGHLY recommend for southern food with a twist. We ordered 2 appetizers and an entree with 2 sides to split. The Steamed BBQ Pulled Pork Buns (pictured above) were to die for!! We also had Fired Green Tomatoes with Pimento Cheese, an order of Fried Chicken with a Honey Drizzle, Brussel Sprouts and Mashed Potato Croquettes. All complimented by sweet tea in a mason jar.
Day 3: The Middleton Place Gardens
The second morning, as we were waiting for the Lodge to open, we decided to take a walk through the trails, not knowing where we were headed, and we stubbled upon the famous Middleton Place Gardens– the oldest landscaped gardens of America. We were taken aback by the beauty that encompassed the land. The meticulous thought that went into the creation of these gardens was mesmerizing. It was like a maze that I didn’t mind getting lost in. The photos speak for themselves.
Day 4: Oysters & Rainbow Row
Oysters, my favorite! Amen Street Fish and Raw Bar was the perfect spot to stop and have a mid-day treat. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. We sat outside and took in the breeze coming in from the ocean a couple blocks down the road.
Rainbow Row was a sea of pastel colors flooding the street! Unfortunately, there were several cars parked on the side of the road, so I couldn’t get the shot that I wanted, but believe me, it was gorgeous!
The sunset lighting was perfect, so I had to stop to pose for a few pictures!
Day 5: Final Day
